Moving Into Your New Purple Frog Home
Moving into a new home is an exciting time, but we know there is a lot to think about! We want to make your move-in as smooth as possible, so we’ve put together this simple guide to help you prepare.
Who is managing your property?
If you signed a tenancy agreement with Purple Frog, your property may be managed by us or by the landlord directly. Please check your tenancy agreement or ask us if you are unsure, as this affects who you contact for repairs or queries.

Before You Arrive: The Moving-In Checklist
To ensure there are no delays on your move-in day, please make sure the following three steps are completed. We cannot release keys to any member of the household until all tenants have finished these tasks.
1. Complete your tenancy application
Ensure that you and all your housemates have finished the application process. This include signing the agreement, providing ID, and ensuring all guarantor paperwork is complete. If anything is outstanding, your move-in will be delayed.2. Pay your first month's rent
All tenants must pay their first month’s rent and set up a standing order for future payments before moving in.- Note: Your first month's payment may be reduced by the amount of the Holding Deposit you paid at the start.
- We will email you to confirm the exact amounts due.
3. Book your key collection
Keys are available from midday (12:00 PM) on the first day of your tenancy. You must book an appointment through your Tenant Portal.- One tenant can collect keys for the whole group, or you can collect them individually.
- Appointments are essential so we can have everything ready for you.
First Things First: Once You Have Your Keys
Once you’ve unlocked the front door, there are a few important tasks to do before you start unpacking.
Locate the essentials
It is important to know where the emergency shut-off points are in your new home:- Gas Shut-off Valve: In terrace properties, this is usually located near the front door. You would only need to use this in the unlikely event that you smell gas.
- Fuse Board (Consumer Unit): Make sure you know where this is in case a circuit trips and you lose power.
Take meter readings
Find your meters and take a clear photo of the readings for:- Gas
- Electricity
- Water (if your property has a water meter)
Important: Taking photos of your meters on the very first day provides proof of your usage and ensures you aren't charged for the previous tenants' energy.
Set up your utility accounts
If your tenancy plan does not include bills, you must contact utility providers to set up your accounts immediately.- If you delay, you may be put on an "emergency" or "out of contract" tariff, which is significantly more expensive.
- Registering early ensures you only pay for what you use from day one.
